AMA-MSS Interim Meeting and Disney

This past month, over 800 members of the American Medical Association Medical Student Section attended the 2016 interim meeting in Orlando, FL. This was my first meeting, and I was blown away by how much of an impact this group of amazing individuals has on policy. Most of the meetings were spent discussing and proposing policy, but there were also opportunities for educational sessions, research presentations, and a clinical skills demonstration. Being around so many people who share the same interests and passions was so energizing! This was definitely a chance for me to step outside of my comfort zone and let my voice be heard. I left each meeting feeling incredibly inspired.
Work hard, play hard...right? After hours and hours of meetings, we had to stop by and see Mickey while we were there! My classmate and I spent a day at Magic Kingdom and had the best time! Disney World is such a magical place, I don't care how old you are! We had to be back at the hotel for dinner with the Oklahoma Delegation that evening, but snuck out after dinner and went back to the park. All of the Christmas lights were up, and it was even MORE magical. If that is even possible!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such an impactful organization, and I highly encourage anyone who feels drawn towards policymaking to seek an opportunity to attend one of these meetings.
